Bed & Barrel

Retreats

The Whole Property, Just for Your Group

What are you planning?

We believe mini miracles are everywhere, and this house was built for them. Rent Bed & Barrel exclusively and make our home for friends and wine your home. This place was built with 10 couples in mind. Hence, if you bring friends, family, or anyone happy to share a bed the place sleeps 20 across 4 houses. If you bring colleagues, a professional retreat, people who’d rather have their own space,  the place sleeps 10 comfortably. Whether you are planning a corporate, family, wellness, sports, culinary, cultural or reading retreat, bring your tribe, come as you are and stay as you like.

Focus by Day, Unplug by Evening

We know retreats live or die by focus, so this is a home free of distractions, with wifi fast enough that nobody has an excuse. An AV system with an overhead projector is ready for the sessions that matter, and we can help arrange team-building activities on-site. When the work is done, the reward is right outside the door: chill in the saltwater pool or saltwater hot tub, run or hike the trails through the hills above the vineyard and around the winery, into the pristine wilderness that surrounds us. We can also bring in our community of trusted local contractors — chefs, massage therapists, yoga and Pilates instructors, estheticians, and more — to round out the day. More than one group has liked it here enough to stay through the weekend and bring their family up to share in it — book your retreat with us and you’ll have priority on reservations through the weekend.

From Vine to Glass

Bed & Barrel sits on a working vineyard, and most of our team-building happens right here among the vines. Do a wine tasting or one of our unique blind tastings, which teaches you a very non pretentious and scientific approach to sensory evaluation of wines. Take a vineyard tour, join a pruning clinic, or roll up your sleeves for a hands-on winemaking clinic — start a batch together as a community on your first day, and by the end of your stay it will have become Federweisser, the same young wine we bottle and sell as Sunshine Wine, so your group can see, and taste, exactly how it’s made. If our winemaker’s schedule allows, we can also arrange a barrel tasting.

A Few More Comforts

Our wood-fired pizza oven turns out some of the best pizza west of Napoli, and it’s become a favorite way for groups to end a day together — everyone building their own pie, gourmet toppings and all. And if you’re driving up in an electric vehicle, charge it right here: we have on-site EV chargers, including Tesla destination chargers, so you can plug in and not think about it again until you leave.

Just Down the Road

When your group wants to explore beyond our doors, Lake County has plenty to share. Clear Lake — the oldest natural lake in North America and the largest entirely within California — is minutes away for boating and fishing, and Blue Lakes is a local favorite for open water swimming. Hike or mountain bike the trails nearby — including out to Indian Reservoir, a hidden, pristine freshwater reservoir that’s easiest to reach by mountain bike — or head into the Snow Mountain Wilderness, part of the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, for something even wilder. For a bigger adventure, book a whitewater rafting trip on Cache Creek. Lake County is also home to a whole community of wineries worth visiting — though we’ll say it plainly: the best wine tasting experience in California is still the blind tasting right here at Stonehouse Cellars.
